2015 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Drops at SEMA

Chevrolet has extended the life of its drag racing special COPO Camaro for another year at the 2014 SEMA Show.

The introduction car on display is painted in Abalone White wearing COPO graphics. Power for the show car comes from a 350 cubic inch “LSX” V-8 with a 2.9L Whipple supercharger strapped on top. Three other engines will be available for COPO Camaros and conform to NHRA Stock and Super Stock classes. These choices include 350, 396 and 427 cubic inch naturally aspirated V8 engines.

Every COPO Camaro begins life as a hand built production car and is then equipped with a NHRA-approved roll cage and other safety equipment. The chassis and suspension are upgraded with racing parts and a solid rear axle, which is better for drag racing, replaces the Camaro’s usual independent rear suspension.

Also available through the Chevrolet Performance catalog are six COPO racing crate engines and other specialty parts. The six engines offered are 350, 396 and 427 cubic inch naturally aspirated V8s as well as three supercharged V8s; two measuring 327 cubic inches in displacement and the 350 cubic inch engine found in the show car.

Like previous versions of the COPO, only 69 cars will be built for the 2015 model year. Those interested in owning one need to register online through a special lottery that will randomly determine who receives the special edition Camaro.
