Chevrolet Performance has announced that it has signed a multi-year deal to become the title sponsor of the NHRA U.S. Nationals.
The U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis is the largest and most prestigious event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule, and Chevrolet Performance will now be the headline sponsor.
The sponsorship of the drag racing series is a perfect fit for Chevrolet Performance, which has been manufacturing the drag-specific COPO Camaro for the public. This year, the COPO Camaro will be limited to just 69 cars and the American automaker offers it with either a 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 or a 5.3-liter V8 with a choice between a 2.9- or 4.0-liter supercharger.
“The heart and soul of Chevrolet Performance is on display in the staging lanes at the U.S. Nationals, making this partnership with one of the most historic races in NHRA Drag Racing all the more important,” said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Our engineers are continually developing new engines and engine components for sportsman and professional racers; and events like the U.S Nationals are their proving ground.”
